Payment: Payment is due at the beginning of each lesson for occasional students. For recurring students, payment is due at the beginning of each month for the month's lessons. Lessons will not occur if payment is not made. If a student decideds to stop taking lessons, I recommend finishing out the month. Refunds will not be granted. Cancellation: Cancellations may be made via email only. Cancellations made with at least 24 hours' notice: lessons may be cancelled with the possibility of rescheduling or crediting payments toward future lessons. Cancellations made with fewer than 24 hours' notice and no-shows: payment will not be credited toward future lessons. Makeup lessons can be scheduled for the usual hourly rate. ***Exceptions to the above may be made in emergency situations*** Required Materials for Each Lesson: 1. Your flute (you'd be surprised!) 2. A pencil (not a pen) 3. A flute-specific notebook (not a section of another notebook) 4. A flute-specific folder 5. Any books/sheet music we're currently working on together. 6. A can-do attitude! Students are welcome to audio record their lessons. These recordings are for the student's use only and may not be made public or shared online. Parents are encouraged to listen to the lessons and hear what their students are learning! Practice: My students are expected to practice. We will go over how much time I recommend you spend practicing for your level and goals. I have the same relationship with practicing that a dentist has with flossing: - Ideally, I'd like for you to do it every day. - I'll be pleased if you do it most days. - If you don't do it, I can tell. There is no use telling me you practiced more than you did. Student progress (this part is very important): Playing the flute is a very worthwhile endeavor. Like most worthwhile endeavors, it is at times quite challenging. As your teacher, all I can do is tell students what to do, why to do it, and how to do it. I cannot make it easier to do. The only person who can make it easier to do consistently is the student, and they can only do this through thoughtful, curiosity-fueled, and regular practice. We'll of course go over what that means for each student, because practice looks a bit different for everyone! I can't promise results, but I can promise this: With regular, thoughtful practice, students will improve their abilities to play the flute and make music effectively. Without it, they won't.
I understand and agree to the studio policies above.
Thank you!
